We May Never Have A Ring,
But We Will Receive A Crown Matthew 25:21, His LORD said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy LORD. This was the title of the sermon I preached on 2/3/2019 (Superbowl Sunday). Consider NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL etc. All teams play for rings. These rings are given to them for their achievements on the field. As attractive as they are, they are only temporal and can never compare to the crown’s we believers will receive from the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 6:19-20, Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: We ought to invest our lives in Heaven where time and effort laid up is secure forever. The work and service done for Jesus Christ today is invested in heaven. Incorruptible Crown (I Corinthians 9:24-27) STRIVING: Endurance & patience in Christian life. Those who strive lawfully or walk according to the Scriptures in this life will receive this Crown. Crown of Rejoicing (I Thessalonians 2:19) SOULS: For winning souls. The individuals won to Christ will be this Crown that is offered before Christ at the judgment seat of Christ by the soul winner. Crown of Righteousness (II Timothy 4:5-8; I John 3:2-3) SEEKING: Looking for HIS return. Love His appearing. Those who live in such a manner as to love for Christ to come will receive this Crown. Crown of Life (James 1:12; Revelation 2:10) SACRIFICE: Persecution & martyrdom. This Crown will be won by those who dare to go against the world, flesh and the Devil and do not yield to the power of temptations. Crown of Glory (I Peter 5:2-3) SHEPHERDS: Faithful pastors. This Crown will be won by those who study the word of God as a Pastor and feed the Church the Holy Ghost has made them overseers. Don’t be discouraged if it seems that no one notices your labors. One day God will give crowns of glory to those who love and serve Him. There will be a day in the future when all of our efforts, labors, & sacrifices made in service for God will be remembered, recognized & rewarded. Whether anyone on this earth ever knows your name, you can be sure that God sees all that you have done and will greet you with the words, "Well done" (Matthew 25:21). I Corinthians 15:58, Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the LORD, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the LORD. Don’t quit, don’t give up, keep serving and shining for Jesus until He comes for You. Prayer, Father in Heaven, Thank You for opportunities given to serve You. Help me to remember that labor done for You in never in vain. Help me to serve You faithfully all the days of my life. I love You and Your Son Jesus and I’m looking forward to laying my crowns at His feet. In Jesus name, Amen.
