Our Abundant Spiritual Blessings in Christ
Ephesians 1:3, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: Imagine Paul as he sits in his prison cell at Rome contemplating the things of God when all at once he breaks out in praise and worship. It was just him and God. God flooded Paul's heart and he broke forth in praise. True worship comes from praise-filled hearts of the redeemed. God is the source Who supplies us with our blessings. Those who have been saved by the wonderful grace of God can lay claim upon these many blessings. Not some spiritual blessings, but all. My friend you may not have much by way of material things, but when you were born again, you were born rich. Have you ever heard of the story of a famous oil field called Yates Pool? Well, during the Depression, this field was a sheep ranch owned by a man named Yates. Mr. Yates wasn't able to make enough on his ranch to pay the principal and interest on the mortgage, so he was in danger of losing his ranch. With little money for clothes or food, his family (like many others) had to live on government subsidies. Day after day, as he grazed his sheep over those rolling West Texas hills, he was no doubt troubled about how he would pay his bills. Then a seismographic crew from an oil company came into the area and told him there might be oil on his land. They asked permission to drill a wildcat well, and he signed a lease contract. At 1,115 feet they struck a huge oil reserve. The first well came in at 80,000 barrels a day. Many future wells were more than twice as large. In fact, 30 years after the discovery, a government test of one of the wells showed it still had the potential flow of 125,000 barrels of oil a day and Mr. Yates owned it all. The day Mr. Yates bought the land he had received the oil and mineral rights. Yet, he'd been living on relief. He was a multimillionaire living in poverty. What was the problem? He didn't know the oil was there even though he owned it. Many Christians live in spiritual poverty, anxiety, and fear. They are entitled to the gifts of the Holy Spirit, His energizing power and soothing comfort, but they are ignorant or not aware of these blessings because they fail to walk with God, read His Word, and let Him control their lives. Does this describe you? Walking with the Lord who lives within you will help you stay close to Him and conquer any fears you may face, especially the fear of rejection. Prayer: Father in heaven, thank You for the comfort and hope we have in You and with Your Words of promise. Help me to always be reminded that you not only gave me salvation but also provision. In Jesus name, Amen! This is an excerpt from a Bible study. You can read the full study in its entirety when you open the Bible Study link.
