20 Wonderful Years

20 Wonderful Years (Acts 20:24)

Acts 20:24, But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

On this day, back in 2000, Joy and I became husband in wife. And Yes! If I had to do it all over again, I would have married her again. I’m so grateful to God and to her parents. I’m thankful that she fears the LORD (Proverbs 31:30). Her name speaks for itself and supersedes the value of great riches (Proverbs 22:1).

Joy has faithfully stuck by my side for 20 years, undoubtedly representing the term “helpmeet”. Anyone can love while living on the mountain peaks, but it takes grace to love someone and to remain in love with them while down in the valleys. It is easy for people love the LORD while the sun is shining, but when the dark clouds are overhead their love begins to decrease and fade away. I give God the glory and praise for these 20 wonderful years. Had it not been for Him our marriage would not have thrived and survived.

Here are some reasons why.
  1. We have a personal and close walk with Christ and with one another.
  2. Not only are we a couple, but we are best friends sharing the same goal and always about our Heavenly Father’s business.
  3. We respect each other in our differences and we take each other seriously.
  4. We choose to identify and attack our problems rather than each other.
  5. I lead and she follows.

Here are 20 more:
  1. She knows me better than anyone else, yet she loves me.
  2. She supports every goal and endeavor I have.
  3. She supports and encourages me more than anyone.
  4. She gives me strength to continue during those times I feel I can’t go on any longer.
  5. She has always wanted me to do my very best for the Lord or for others.
  6. She has never given me bad counsel.
  7. She loves and cares for me enough to confront me to give me the right advice when I need it even though I didn’t want to hear it.
  8. She has never listened to the rumors or the lies about me.
  9. She has never betrayed me.
  10. She gives me time and space when I need it.
  11. She has been a faithful companion in spite of my faults and failures.
  12. She wants me to love Jesus more than she wants anything else for me.
  13. She fills our house with joy with her laughter and smiles.
  14. She has always remained loyal to me when I was rejected by others.
  15. She has never, at any time, hindered me from doing what I felt the LORD wanted me to do.
  16. She is my cheerleader when I’m doing what I love doing (preaching)!
  17. She has always followed faithfully by my side.
  18. She is willing to move with me anywhere the Lord leads.
  19. She has shared a 100% of that last 20 years of her life with me.
  20. She (when this life on earth in over) even wants to spend eternity with me!

PRAYER: LORD, I thank You for allowing me to marry a wonderful person. I praise You for giving me a woman of character, devotion, and integrity because she has deepened and developed our marriage. May our marriage bring pleasure to You and may others see You in our marriage. In Jesus name. AMEN!
